CJ Never Called Magistrates "Dwarfs"

In the Sunday Pepper of August 13, 2017 on Page 3, the Sunday Pepper published a story with the headline "U'RE DWARFS" Katureebe Blasts Magistrates. The said newspaper has since established that the Chief Justice Bart M. Katureebe never made such a reference and that he was quoted him out of context.
The story was from an August 11, 2017 event in Kampala where theChief Justice presided over the commissioning of a Law Development Centre (LDC)Auditorium. At the same event,he also launched the LDC Law Reports for 2010,2011 and 2012.
Instead, the Chief Justice commended the LDC for making a noblecontribution towards further equipping the courts to do a better job. He saidjudicial officers (Judges, Registrars and Magistrates) need a lot of lawreports and other legal reference materials to enrich their writing of rulingsand judgments.
Hon. Justice Katureebe said he would lobby the government to providemore funds to the Judiciary for purchasing the legal references to aid thejudicial officers do a better job.
The CJ further said: "LDC has been at the forefront of providing anenduring record of significant decisions of the Courts of Judicature which isessential to the development of jurisprudence in Uganda. I commend LDC for ajob well done."
He noted that Law reporting is a very important function of LDC and urged the institution to make use of modern ICT to provide high quality online services.
